Ans :- “Tejasvi Navadhitamastu Edu-Infra Funds (TNEIF).”
According to the 2011 census of India, Assam has an overall literacy rate of 72.19%, including males 78.81% and females 67.27%. The literacy rate is comparatively lower than the overall national average of 74.04%. Assam has one women university, and as per the survey of All India Survey of Higher Education (AISHE), the state has only 10.8% Private-unaided colleges.
Therefore in order to boost higher education in the state , the govt. decided to set up six universities in Assam under Tejasvi Navadhitamastu (“let our study be enlightening” ) Edu-Infra Funds (TNEIF) . This scheme was launched in the 2017-18 budget to reimagine and re-structure higher education in the state. Each of the six institutions to be established under the “Tejasvi Navadhitamastu EduInfra Funds (TNEIF)” would receive a budget allocation of Rs 8 crore (2021-22), Rs 22 crore (2022-23), and Rs 20 crore (2023-24).

The six universities that are to be established under this scheme are :-
1. Majuli University of Culture 2. Rabindranath Tagore University (Hojai) 3. Bhattadev University (Pathsala) 4. Madhabdev University (Narayanpur) 5. Birangana Sati Sadhini State University (Golaghat) 6. Aniruddhadev Sports University (Chabua).

Conclusion :- The Government of Assam has taken many steps to make education more accessible and affordable to all. According to the official website of UGC (ugc.ac.in), the state has 15 Universities and two central universities. The top three colleges are – Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, National Institute of Technology (NIT) , Silchar and the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Guwahati.
